One of my favorite things to do with my kids especially around this time of year is to get outside and PLAY! Right now when the air is getting a little cooler, the mosquitoes are finally dissipating and it's actually bearable to wander outside (when there's not a swimming pool around!), is my favorite time to get out and play with my three little ones.
My sixteen month old son is definitely an out-doors boy! He could literally stay outside all day. He loves to toddle around the grass, get in and out of his little play car, walk up and down the driveway, chase butterflies, and just do whatever he can! He is happiest when he is outdoors and always has the biggest smile on his little face! He always cries when it's time to come inside and usually I have to pick him up and carry him since he refuses to walk!
My daughter is really into the out door play ground scene! She loves going to the park and meeting friends. We love to go as a family and meet friends and there's nothing more satisfying as a parent than seeing your child play well with other children. Imagination at is best is when the playground becomes a castle and all the little girls become princesses running away from dragons! It doesn't seem to matter if we come with friends or with just ourselves, if there is a little girl on that play ground, she won't be a stranger for long! The other day my daughter met a little girl with a bike on the play ground and before I knew it they were both taking turns riding it, and looking forward to their next play date!
My oldest son loves action! He loves bikes, four wheelers, slides, swings, anything that gets him moving! He never sits still! He loves riding his mini four wheeler to the neighbor's house and they run around and play outside for ours. It is so amazing how much kids can do when the TV is turned off! Even thought their first choice always seems to be TV, I've found that when I just leave it off, the imaginations always start to sneak in and before you know it they're outside playing tag or involved in a very serious game of four-square! Also, it amazes me how when my kids are all outside together, the older ones take care and watch after the little ones! I love seeing the softer side of my kids, and playing outside seems to bring out the best in everyone!
